New version 20210920 of ArmbianTV images with support for installation in eMMC\NVMe\SATA. Important. For the new images to work, it is necessary to update the u-boot in eMMC on M2\P2. The new version of u-boot is compatible with the existing official versions of Station and Ubuntu, which are released by Firefly. To upgrade to the new version of u-boot, you need to follow several steps.
1. Download a special version of the image from the link.

2. Unpack, write to the SD card.
3. Start the system, perform the initial configuration (answer the questions).
4. to start the update procedure, run the command

sudo /vendor/m2-station-update-uboot

After completing the procedure, turn off the system and you can use the new images as usual, perform the installation in eMMC\NVMe\SATA using the standard nand-install-sata utility.


Please note that before installing the system in eMMC\NVMe\SATA, I strongly recommend creating a full backup of the contents of eMMC. To do this, all ArmbianTV images have a special utility "ddbr". BEFORE starting the installation, you need to run the ddbr utility and select creating a compressed copy. This will allow you to easily return to the current state of eMMC in the future.

Now the image has a working u-boot and you can start the system without using additional media with Armbian.
Ie, you can write the LE image to an SD card  and the system starts automatically. The USB startup option also works.

Important. The u-boot used in LE is fully compatible with running any systems from SD and USB media. You can have the LE version on SD\eMMC and run new versions of LE\Armbian\Altlinux from USB.

Thanks , I need some help though .. these images load using dtb of my rk3566 device and are working , but tried to build and load Ubuntu , using the same dtb ( and dts source ) but Ubuntu is stuck on logo , and I have not yet soldered cables to uart to debug the loading can you help me? I am a developer as well

It’s the same with all vendors ... hardware seems to be great , but the released software not good, and sources , documentation is not complete , I am going over a lot of different forums taking from each a bit and trying to make it work

Do you have the Station M2 model? Which version of Ubuntu are you trying to run ?

I am using all the sources from here (gitlab repo) , and wiki from here , I have the dtb and and successfully loaded all the different armbian images you posted , ( after copying over my dtb )

In case of Ubuntu, same , I used my dts file and to test it’s my dts I changed the logo from full screen to centered and change was shown on screen when I turned on the device

I checked the NVMe operation. The system sees it and you can use it to work with Armbian. By the way, the wish to the manufacturer of Firefly, there are no fasteners included with the M2 to fix the NVMe module, it is desirable to add a screw and a mount (threaded sleeve) to the package for installing the NVMe module in the M2 housing. The ideal option is to install a screw bushing immediately on the board, this will save many users from the headache of how to install and fix the NVMe module in M2.

While armbian loaded just fine just by changing the dtb file with mine on boot partition

Ubuntu image is different , with 7 partition , no easy mod like armbian , so I took all the sources and with my dts file ( same used compiled with armbian )

Built everything from 0 , uboot , kernel , like documented , and executed build.sh rawimg ..

But it appears you figured something else not documented , in your answer ... as you noticed another one asked if you can share ... and instead of sharing , you asked a different question

So , let me try to ask the right question ... what did you figure on that post to make your image work on m2 from sd card ... maybe your finding can hel me fix the issue I’m having booting Ubuntu

You are asking questions about the hardware and the build system, which I have nothing to do with (I do not know how they work). Without UART logs, there is no point in discussing.
